HP Reveal




Greetings everyone. If you take a look at the pictures above, you will notice my LEGO helicopter seen through a mobile device camera, has a 3D and animated helicopter flying from it in augmented reality. HP Reveal scans the pictures you take and adds a corresponding animation of augmented reality onto it. I am able to freely move my phone around the helicopter and see the flying animated helicopter in different perspectives.

The important part we will discuss about this is the educational aspects of this application. Children and students are obviously very affliated with such things and are heavily interested in them. Moreover, since phones are really affordable these days nearly every student today owns a smartphone to utilize these applications.

For young students for example, or even for older students, teachers can practice a sort of "remembering the meaning" of a word activies. What I mean by this is that you will be showing the student, for example, the word "Elephant". The student can use this as a reminder and hover the phone over the letter 'Elephant' and see a 3D augmented reality model of an elephant. This can be especially amazing with very young learners and will be a fun and captivating activity for them.

Hello everyone. Today I used a website called Pixton. This website allows you to create lovely comics featuring you as a teacher and your students. When you first login to the website, you are asked to create your avatar to appear in the classrooms and comics. As you can see in the picture above, I created my avatar as similar as I could. I personally find everything about this website adorable and cute. Every character, facial expressions, the style and all are very nicely done. Everything is very high quality and cartoonish to catch the eye of young learners, but even as an adult I absolutely love it. As a teacher, I find this website to be an amazing instrument to truly make students feel involved in school, classroom and create a friendly, almost family type atmosphere in the classroom. Instead of looking at boring, random names and pictures found on google strapped on the books, the students can see themselves in the scenarios.

Hello everyone. Today I tried to use Canva but failed horribly, but failure is the first step to success! Despite me not performing good enough I can personally see the potential this tool has for teachers and students. As far as I can see it you are able to create presentation type stuff to show. As a teacher, you can use this in a variety of ways in the class, but I personally have an idea that should be especially great for young learners. You can create a colorful page full of the achievements of your students, or a group photo of them to boost their morale and their will to learn.
